Starring American Idol’s Ace Young (Broadway’s Hair and Grease) as Radames and introducing Anita Welch in the title role and Erin Maya as Amneris, Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA features a score by famed pop star and the composer of The Lion King and Billy Elliot and the lyricist of Evita, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. The Axelrod production is being directed and choreographed by Luis Salgado (Broadway’s In the Heights and On Your Feet!). 
Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice’s award-winning musical AIDA is regarded as one of the great musicals of the current century with a multi-Tony-and Grammy-winning score. The Axelrod’s production boasts a dream team joining director-choreographer Luis Salgado, including set designer Kate Rance, lighting designer Herrick Goldman, sound designer Kevin Johnson, costume designer Robert Croghan and properties designer Susan Bloir. The Salgado Productions team includes Musical Director Ricky Romano, Associate Director Valeria Cossu, Assistant Choreographer Myriam Gadri and Production Supervisor Heather Hogan. The show is being produced by Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco and CEO Jess Levy

Ace can’t wait to rock out as Radames at Axelrod! Ace is a man of many talents and has the credits to back them up. Even before his multiple #1 hits as a songwriter, Ace was wowing millions on TV shows like American Idol and Half & Half. His Grammy-nominated song “It’s Not Over” gave way to his own BMI Pop Award and many other songwriting acclaims. Ace has starred on Broadway in Hair and Grease and toured the country in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. His next chapter of artistry has him sitting in the producer, writer, and artist’s chairs, for his upcoming solo album. Ace is represented by Headline Talent Agency.




Erin Maya is a professional singer, songwriter, and actress.  She is thrilled to work with this team. Credits: Helen/Vinnie in "THE DONKEY SHOW" (A.R.T. Boston original cast), Yitzhak in “HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH” (Wolfbane Productions),  Janis Joplin in "BEEHIVE: The 60s Musical!" (Greenbrier Valley Theatre), Voice of Audrey II in "LITTLE SHOP..." (The Hangar Theatre), Kristin in "WEARING BLACK" by Riley Thomas (NYMF), Mareli in “Amigo Duende” (Salgado Productions). Erin has performed at venues/theatres all over NYC and regionally for years. She is the founder/lead vocalist/songwriter of the band ERIN MAYA AND THE RECKONING (check out their EP “Suburban Anxiety” on Spotify, iTunes, etc.) She also sings backup vocals in the NY punk band BABE PATROL.

Anita is overjoyed to be a part of this wonderful cast in a role she’s dreamed of since being a teen. She is most recognized for her media campaign with Clinique cosmetics. Film/TV: Stuck, CBS's In The Spotlight, Fox's Black Nativity.  Select credits include Ain't Misbehavin (Charlene) directed by Richard Maltby Jr., the regional premiere of The Color Purple (Shug Avery), the world premiere of Cincinnati King, the world premiere of Little Rock (Little Rockian One), For The Last Time (Hilda), for which Anita was nominated for a 2015 AULDUCO award, and the national/international tour of Avenue Q (Gary Coleman).
