Academy Players

Ages 12+

Students ages 12-20 study acting, vocal, scene study with APAA Musical Theater Faculty. Twice a year, Academy Players audition for and perform in a mainstage musical production. Previous productions include The Spongebob Musical and The Addams Family.

Pricing

Classes run September 8, 2022 - June 16, 2023. Tuition pricing is based on APAA's 40-week school year and is to be paid in 9 installments charged on the 15th of every month. The first installment will include tuition for the first and last months of training (September and June). All classes are held at AXCBT Studios @ Bell Works (101 Crawfords Corner Road, Holmdel, NJ).

This special deal applies to all Pre-Professional Dance & Theater classes.

2-hour Theater/Improv/Vocal (Ages 12+) ~ $1800 for year ($180 per month)

For all 1.5-hour Dance Classes

1 class a week ~ $1440 for year ($36 per class / $144 per month)

2 classes a week ~ $2560 for year ($32 per class / $256 per month)

3 classes a week or more ~ $3300 for year (Monthly Unlimited $330 per month)

 

For all 1-hour Dance Classes

1 class a week ~ $960 for year ($24 per class / $96 per month)

2 classes a week ~ $1760 for year ($22 per class / $176 per month)

3 classes a week ~ $2400 for year ($20 per class / $240 per month)

Ross Lekites – APAA Musical Theater Faculty

Ross Lekites was in the original Broadway company of Disney's Frozen and starred as Charlie Dalrymple in Christopher Wheeldon's New York City Center production of Brigadoon, alongside Kelli O'Hara and Patrick Wilson. Other Broadway and National Tour credits include Kinky Boots, West Side Story and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Regional credits includes Frozen (Denver, Colorado), Triangle (Theaterworks, San Francisco), Good News! (Goodspeed Opera House), South Pacific, West Side Story and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Ross's cast recordings include Brigadoon, Frozen and the Off-Broadway hit musical Yank!
Ross has been seen nationally and internationally starring in multiple concerts with The Boston Pops, Philly Pops, Virginia Symphony and with conductors Keith Lockhart, Rob Fisher, Patrick Vaccariello, Todd Ellison and famed UK conductor John Wilson. Most recently Ross starred as Tony in West Side Story with the John Wilson Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, presented live on BBC Radio. He has appeared on ABC series Time After Time and in the feature film Walking to Maryland.

Claire Leyden  – APAA Musical Theater Faculty

Commended for her “magnetic stage presence” and “crystalline soprano,” Claire Leyden is a singer and actress with an extensive background in musical theater, concert, and operatic repertoire.  Claire feels equally at home in a variety of genres, and the diversity of her recent performances speaks to her love of, and versatility in, the “crossover” repertoire.  A native of the beautiful Hudson Valley, Claire loves to explore the outdoors and is committed to climate causes and making the world a little better than she found it! When not on stage, she loves to spend time with her partner Greg, hiking and quizzing one another on the latin names of plants. Claire is known for her work in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Gossip Girl.

Gabrielle Stravelli  – APAA Musical Theater Faculty

Vocalist and songwriter Gabrielle Stravelli blends musical traditions with a modern, genre-bending sensibility. The rhythmic swing of jazz frames her original compositions while as an actor and storyteller she reinterprets the Great American Songbook as well as works by contemporary artists as varied as Willie Nelson, Chick Corea and John Fogerty. Unexpected, highly individual choices are her trademark.

 

Gabrielle is currently in residence at Birdland jazz club every Tuesday at 5:30pm through July 26th. She plays one set with her trio in the intimate Birdland theater.  She has toured the United States with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing his masterwork Abyssinian: a gospel celebration. She was chosen by world-renowned jazz pianist Fred Hersch to premiere his song cycle, rooms of light, at Montclair University PAC and more recently, to film a masterclass on the vocal/piano duo setting. Slated to be released in July through Open Studio, Gabrielle and Fred play and discuss the finer points of making music for Fred’s upcoming series “Just Friends: The Art of the Duo.”

 

Since 2015 she has toured internationally with the “American Music Abroad” (AMA) program, performing and teaching throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. In 2019, Gabrielle and her quintet headlined the Providencia Jazz Festival in Santiago, Chile, the Las Condes Jazz Festival and the 10th annual Semana Internacional de Jazz en la Patagonia. She headlined the 2021 and 2018 jazz on the mountain festival at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY and has appeared at the 2019 Kota Kinabalu Music and Dance Festival in Malaysia, the 2016 Eleuthera All That Jazz Festival in the Bahamas, the 2013 Maree Sonore Festival in Venice and the 2013 Kastav Cultural in Croatia.

 

From August 2020-December 2021, Gabrielle’s trio featuring Michael Kanan on piano and Pat O’Leary on bass, played live every Saturday night at the West Bank Cafe in New York City.
