Written and Directed by Beth Elise Hawk
SYNOPSIS
After winning the Israeli version of Top Chef, (The First Muslim Arab chef to receive the highest culinary honor in Israel) Doctor/Microbiologist/Chef, Nof Atamna-Ismaeel, decided to establish the A-Sham Arabic Food Festival in Haifa, in order to encourage Jewish and Arab cooks to reinvent traditional recipes together and erode the cultural barriers between their heritages. Beth Elise Hawk’s documentary "occupies the space between cultural study and kitchen porn," celebrating both Dr. Atamna-Ismaeel’s mission and the mouth watering dishes that come from this collaboration. Wildy popular at film festival screenings, Breaking Bread will lift your spirits.
